DID YOU KNOW?

When we talk about oil, you might think of the stuff we put in our cars or lawnmowers to make them work smoothly. And when we talk about natural gas, you might picture it as something we use to heat our homes, cook our food, or make electricity. But guess what? Oil and natural gas can do way more than just that!

These special things called petrochemicals, which come from oil and natural gas, help make more than 6,000 different things we use every day, including cool gadgets. Some of the important petrochemicals have funny names like ethylene, propylene, acetylene, benzene, and toluene. Also, some parts of natural gas like methane, propane, and ethane are used to make all kinds of stuff we depend on.

Our modern life depends on having these things available, and they're not just made in one place, they're made in the United States and all around the world. Let's take a closer look at some of the regular things we find in our homes and businesses that might surprise you!

Sustainability

01

Addressing climate change requires global cooperation and concerted efforts to reduce GHG emissions, transition to renewable energy sources, improve energy efficiency, and protect and restore forests and ecosystems. International agreements like the Paris Agreement aim to limit global warming to well below 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels and strive to limit it to 1.5 degrees Celsius to avoid the worst impacts of climate change.

Individuals, communities, businesses, and governments all play a role in mitigating climate change through sustainable practices and policies. Reducing carbon emissions, conserving resources, and promoting clean energy are essential steps to combat this critical global challenge.
